| In 1983, with typical modesty, Rosa Keller said, "I've received so many honors it's
absurd. . . . It's funny. I just thought I was being a good Christian." Mrs. Keller did, indeed, receive a multitude of
well-deserved honors during her lifetime, among them, the Lane Bryant Award, presented to her by the National Urban
League (1955); the Whitney M. Young Jr. Memorial Third Annual Brotherhood Award, presented by the Urban League
of Greater New Orleans (1973); the Benjamin Smith Civil Liberties Award (1987) and the Life Achievement Award
(1995), presented by the American Civil Liberties Union of Louisiana; the Hanna G. Solomon Award, Presented by the
National Council of Jewish Women (1982); the Weiss Award, presented by the National Conference of Christians and
Jews (1981) and Mayor Marc Morial's Medal of Honor. She also received honorary degrees from three local
universities over the years: Dillard University in 1980, Loyola University in 1984, and Xavier University in 1988.
One of the most prestigious of Mrs. Keller's honors was the Times-Picayune Loving Cup, presented annually to a person who has contributed significantly to the improvement of life in New Orleans.
