| One of Rosa Keller's first important actions as a member of the Library Board, and
surely her most famous, was her ultimately successful campaign to desegregate the city's library facilities. These pages
from the minutes of the March 10, 1954 Board meeting record Mrs. Keller's lonely position as the sole promoter of
integration. Within a matter of months, however, her goal was realized and the Library administration decided that it
would not enforce any continued attempt
to maintain separation of the races in NOPL facilities.
