SARA E. MUELLER
Sara E. Mueller was a native New Orleanian, the granddaughter of the early photographer, Samuel Moses. For sixteen years, she was the manager of, and a partner in, Hahn's Parisian Corset Parlor in the Vieux Carré. Her cousin, Robert Hahn, was a London corset manufacturer who set her up in the business, but they had a falling out in 1911. She eventually took over the operation and in 1915 opened a new store, Mueller's Parisian Corset Parlors, at 220 Baronne St. The Daily Picayune of October 13, 1901 referred to the store as “probably, not only the largest, but the only one of its kind and character in the United States. . . . Miss Sara E. Mueller, in charge, has built up a business which is the envy of Canal street.”
