PFC Allison Leaves for Asheville -- L&N Railroad Station, 1945 On March 11, 1943, after three years of college and some secretarial/stenographic jobs, Lucie Allison enlisted in the Women’s Army Corps. Allison photographed his younger daughter just before she boarded a train for Asheville, North Carolina. She is standing on the sidewalk across from the L&N Railroad Station at the foot of Canal Street.
