The architect J. N. De Pouilly prepared this pamphlet as part of his contract with the Church Wardens of the Cathedral to supervise the building's restoration according to his own plans and drawings. This copy of the document originally was filed as evide nce in suit number 3566 in the Third District Court of New Orleans. City Archives staff separated the document from the suit record proper and placed in in the Louisiana Division's Rare Vertical File, in the pamphlet series.

It appears in the 1838 Gibson's guide and directory of the state of Louisiana and shows how the building looked before the De Pouilly restoratio n.
