Hours

The Louisiana Division/City Archives & Special Collections staff is available Monday to Friday from 10:00 am to 5:00 pm.

Research Appointment

The Louisiana Division/City Archives & Special Collections will be providing scheduled research appointments to patrons. General Research appointments are not available and staff are not able to provide research assistance.

Staff will assess appointment requests on a case by case basis, not all material types are available. Call 504-596-2610 for more inforamtion and to inquire about an appointment.

Expanded reference services will still be offered and requests will be filled remotely when we are able to do so.

Appointments will be one hour and forty-five minutes sessions and must be scheduled at least three days prior to the requested appointment. Appointments are scheduled Monday thru Friday from 10:00 am to 11:45 pm amd from 2:00 pm to 3:45 pm.

Patrons will wear masks and adhere to social distancing policies during their visit.

Research

Due to the current COVID-19 crisis and restricted research appointments, we are happy to offer some extended reference services to our patrons.

Please email archivist@nolalibrary.org or call 504-596-2610 for remote research assistance. If you would prefer to mail in requests, you may do so.

Requests will be reviewed and responded to from 10:00 am to 5:00 pm Monday to Friday. Please be patient as response times may be longer than expected.

Circulation

At this time all materials remain non-circulatng. Materials are not available for Interlibrary Loan, including microfilm in our Early Records Collection.

Please call or email if you have questions about the books or microfilm in our collection.

Reproduction

Due to the current COVID-19 crisis and restricted opening, we are happy to offer some extended duplication services for patrons. Duplication services beyond those typically offered under our search and copy services, will be determined on a case by case basis.

Building Plans can be sent offsite to a duplications company. Please email archivist@nolalibrary.org for more information.

Digital Resources

Resources available for free on the internet or with your New Orleans Public Library Card. This will assist you with your research until you can visit us again. Please email or call with any questions.
