Mida and Bodu Michell pose on the St. Charles Avenue neutral ground, Mardi Gras (February 6), 1940. They were the children of Captain Albro P. Michell and Mida Castell Michell. We think that "Bodu" is Albro, Jr. The original photograph is in a scrapbook donated to the Louisiana Division by Mardi Gras historian Zuma Young Salaun who was apparently related to, or at least friendly with, the Castell family. Mrs. Salaun, author of Mardi Gras facts and fancies (1983) was a longtime user of and volunteer for the Louisiana Division. She died in Mineral Wells, Texas, last April. The Michell siblings are alive and well. We hope that they are still enjoying Mardi Gras!
