Image of the Month
April 2010

As Mayor-elect Mitch Landrieu searches for a new Superintendent for the New Orleans Police Department we present a photograph of a scene that will almost certainly not be reenacted by the new Chief. This image, likely dating from the first part of the 1940s, shows Superintendent George Reyer taking part in what appears to be a staged training session in the NOPD gym. Reyer (left) is being "threatened" with a knife by Chief of Detectives John Grosch while gym instructor Capt. Arthur Marullo observes. Click HERE to see how Chief Reyer handled the situation.

And thank goodness for advances in gym wear over the last sixty-five years!
