Biographical/Historical Note

deLesseps S. "Chep" Morrison served as Mayor of New Orleans from 1946 to 1961, when he resigned to accept his appointment as U.S. Ambassador to the Organization of American States.

Arrangement

The records are arranged chronologically and alphabetically by the name of the correspondent or subject matter of the contents in each folder. Press releases and reading files are arranged chronologically.

Scope Note

The records, for the most part, represent subject/correspondence files from the second half of the Morrison administration. A small series of miscellaneous subject files covers his entire term of office, and a smaller series comprises the records of Morrison's Public Relations Office for 1960 only. Reading files from the first half of Morrison's administration were retained, as were press releases.

The records of the first half of the Morrison administration are housed at Tulane University.
