Subject Book Volume Page Date Description
Orphans 3 III 144 7/11/1794 Governor: Carondelet; Royal Ensign: Almonaster – A certified copy of a Royal Edict, presented to the Cabildo by the Governor, mentions that His Majesty “has been pleased to decide in favor of the children of the Asylum.” (The question at issue requiring Royal decision is not indicated.)
Orphans 3 III 178 12/16/1794 Governor: Carondelet; Royal Ensign: Almonaster – The Attorney General presented two measures for the prevention of fires (see “Fire”), one of which recommended that the small houses on both sides of the Plaza be inspected by the Engineers and reconstructed. This request was not acted upon at this time as Almonaster owned the said small houses, so could not vote in the matter. However, at the next session, page 179, a sufficient number of votes being taken, it was agreed to comply with the wishes of the Attorney General regarding repairs of the small houses.
Orphans 4 II 2 7/14/1797 Governor: Carondelet; Royal Ensign: Almonaster – At this time the Governor presents a letter from His Majesty in which mention is made of “excess proceeds from the rental of 17 small houses built by El Conde de Galvez.”
Orphans 4 II 120 4/3/1798 Governor: Gayoso; Royal Ensign: Almonaster – At this time the Royal Ensign (Almonaster) requested certified copies of the deeds by which ten lots were granted certain tenants –which lots comprise the front on two sides of the Plaza, and belong to His Lordship.
Orphans 4 III 53 8/3/1799 Acting Governor: Vidal; Royal Ensign: De La Ronde – At this time Vidal calls attention to a Royal Order concerning the excess proceeds from “small houses established as a charitable fund by Count de Galvez for the support of twelve orphan girls in the Ursuline Convent.”
Orphans 4 IV 115 7/16/1801 Governor: Salcedo; Royal Ensign: De La Ronde – An official letter is presented to the Cabildo by Vidal in which he states that he had on the 18th of April, ordered the Administrator of the Orphans’ Asylum, Don Lopez Armesto, to place at the disposal of the Intendant, the sum of 6,749 Pesos received from the estate of Don Manuel Gayoso de Lemos. (See “Rice.”)
Orphans 4 IV 182 2/26/1802 Governor: Salcedo: Royal Ensign: De La Ronde – The Attorney General calls attention to the erection of a small house close to the levee in front of the Plaza which is in violation of Edicts published by previous Governors. In this controversy mention is made of the fact (page 186) that no small houses should be repaired “with the exception of those assigned to the orphans.”
