Drainage 4 III 13 2/15/1799 Governor: Gayoso; Royal Ensign: De La Ronde - At this time the Commissioners discussed the lack of proper sewerage and the amount of stagnant water in the streets due to the fact that after the fire each individual made his own ditch and sidewalk without attention to the proper level. (See "Streets, Gutters and Bridges.")
Drainage 4 IV 185 3/5/1802 Governor: Salcedo; Royal Ensign: De La Ronde - At this time Don Bartolome Lafond requests the Cabildo to furnish him with a level, two hundred pickets and two Negroes, to assist him in grading the city for the proper drainage. (A water level was purchased - see page 213).
