PLEASE NOTE: New Orleans Public Library provides access to digitized and searchable versions of the Times Picayune (1837-present), New Orleans Item (1877-1958), New Orleans States (1916-1957), and States-Item (1960-1979) to library card holders through our databases.

Newspaper Article Search (without citation)

Please provide any information to the best of your ability that you have that can aid Staff members. Staff will search the newspapers listed above and provide up to five articles regarding a name or subject area provided by the patron.

Times Picayune (1837-1988)
New Orleans Item (1877-1958)

Times Picayune (1988-Present)

Please provide the following information from a direct citation to the newspaper article you are requesting. We can search and provide copies for up to five articles from either the newspaper database or newspapers on microfilm.

Please enclose a check or money order (payable to New Orleans Public Library) for each request. No refunds.

Allow 14 business days for a response. Requests are handled in the order in which they are received, and we cannot accept "rush" orders.

All searches will cover New Orleans Only.

Only 5 citations or individual requests should be submitted at a time.

We will provide the best copy possible from our microfilm or digital content. We cannot guarantee complete legibility of photocopies due to the quality of some of the microfilm.

Requests outside of those listed can be addressed to archivist@nolalibrary.org. The Archives is unable to digitize original materials and large sections of printed materials such as books and reports.
