Dear Sir:

I toured your new Library building on opening day in December at which time I had a brief discussion with you on the function of your Library. I would like to take this opportunity to congratulate you and all those participating in your building program on the fine progress you have made in planning for modern library service. I have visited quite a few new libraries across the country and none have impressed me more, both in design and theory of operation, than did New Orleans.

You mentioned in our discussion that a brochure of factual information and an explanation of the building would be assembled within a couple of months. I would like very much to obtain a copy of this brochure if it has been printed. I would be pleased to pay for any cost of printing and mailing which might be necessary. A C.O.D. to my address would be adequate.

My firm is working with the Salt Lake City Library Board in developing a program for a new central library. I would like to have the Salt Lake City Library Board become acquainted with the excellent results obtained in New Orleans. Eventually perhaps they can personally tour your building. I would like to have them talk to a Librarian who has enthusiastically supported a progressive approach to library design.

I would appreciate very much any word on your brochure and other information which might be of interest to me.

Sincerely,

[signed]David E. Jones
